I have owned a compact Ford (1210) for 16 years. Have decided that it's time for a few more creature comforts. Been looking at a B7500DT with an LA302 loader. The quoted price for this package is 11,000. I've obviously been out of the market for quite some time and was wondering if someone that has been actively shopping or looking through this market lately could tell me if this price seems ok.

Bird, thanks, took your advice, see that their price is 11,250 so I guess my dealer is in the ball park. Hate to get rid of my 1210, but by buying another piece of equipment (Gravely 260 Z 72" '0' turn mower) both pieces will only cost 12,000 with my tractor as a trade. By the way it's in the classified section here too. The Gravely lists @9549.00 sells @ 8,999 and the 7500 w/loader lists @ 13,600. Added together it's 23,149 so if I'm not mistaken that means that I'm actually getting about 11,149 for my 1210. By knocking the the 2,600 difference between 13,600 and 11,000 and the 550 difference between the 9,549 and 8,999 I'm still getting about 8,000 for the Ford. However I've never owned a Kubota, but I know what a bulletproof workhorse my little 1210 is. Do you have any input on the comparison of these fine 2 machines? Don't get me wrong I'de like a new tractor but treading in unknown territory really has me thinking. Thanks in advance. Bob ....

Bob, I'm sorry, but I really can't help you on comparisons of the two machines. I know what a Ford 1210 is, but I've never used one (and I've never used a Gravely machine either, but don't recall anything negative about either of them). I've owned a 1995 Kubota B7100 and now have a 1999 Kubota B2710 and with my own experience, friends experience, and messages posted on this forum , I don't think you can beat the Kubotas. Like one fellow I know of who has 4 tractors, only one of which is a Kubota, but he says the Kubota is the only one he lets his employees use because it's the only one they can't tear up. ....

Don't know how you could do pricewise but have you looked at the NH TC18 or TC21? I have owned a TC18 for a little over a year now and it is a real workhorse for the size. I was at our county fair in Marshall, Michigan yesterday and looked closely at the Kubota BX2200 and B7500 at a Kubota dealer's display there. Kubota has a great reputation and is undeniably a good company. That said, I noticed on the B7500 that the rear end is built much lighter than my TC18. One point in particular was the 3 pt. lift arms, they look so much smaller than those on the TC18.
If you're still in "shopping mode" you might want to just go look to see for yourself. Another point, I climbed up on the B7500 (Yes, Bird, I actually sat on a Kubota, when I got on my TC in the evening, I think it could smell the Kubota!) The seating area, leg room, and comfort for me was not near as good as my TC18. I'm about 6' 1" and 235 lbs. so I noticed the difference, you may not.
I looked at an L3000DT and that rear end looked stronger, closer to my TC18.

JimBinMI, Appreciate your reply, I have compared the tc-18 & 21 to the 7500. There is really no noticeable comfort difference between the 3 models (for me that is) except that I like Kubota's full floating mount deck. I am very familiar with the workhorse capabilities of the NH (ford) compact line as I have owned my 1210 for 16 almost no maintainence (other than PM every 50 hrs.)years. And yes, we have accomplished things together that only her and I will believe! The 3 point hitch comparison really doesn't come in to play as the specs. must all meet minimum SAE tensile strength and capability in order to be classed as Catagory 1. As for pricing I went back to the NH dealer that I purchased my 1210 from 16 years ago, the best he said he could do for the TC-18 with the loader was 13,600 & TC21 was 15,100 respectively. I realize that I must weigh in the fact that these are HSD prices but if I go with Kubota the HSD B-7500 is still only 12,100. Personally, I prefer gear drive because I have driven diesel trucks and tractors since 1979 over the road and over the dirt. I like to know for sure that the gear I have chosen for a specific task is right as far as engine RPM is concerned to avoid any type of lugging as this is the major cause of engine problems especially with any compact. Just a matter of personal taste. Also, I will get a Graverly 260Z, 72" cut Zero turn mower and the B-7500 for my tractor and 12,000 difference. So in actuality I'm getting something here for an even trade. B-7500Dt w/loader List: 13,600 Sells: 11,000 Graverly List: 9,549 Sells: 8,900 Sells Total: 19,900 minus 12,000 = 7,900 for my tractor. NH couldn't even come close and the "0" turn they offer is a Grasshopper that is built far, far below the specs of Graverly. Decisions, Decisions Decisions....Know what I mean? Just fortunate enough to have a wife that understands this. By the way, I have 5 finished Acres of Lawn w/pond and 7.75 acres of tillable farm so I need both machines. Thanks for the insight and reply, Any input about Kubota, NH, or graverly is very much appreciated. Incidentally when I bought my 1210 I looked at orange too. Ford, at the time won hands down! ....

Oh, Bird and Jim, forgot to mention that my Kubota dealer is a neighbor, he makes feel very comfortable while being realistic about the cost of everything today. He is only about 5 miles from me and will p/u or drop off my tractor or mower w/a loaner if necessary @ no charge. No BS kind of guy, and is overall a very honest, easy going person, his brothers and sons do all the set up and delivery. while on the other hand, the NH dealer made me feel that he didn't care one way or the other and is 25 miles from me. This is probably the most important post within this thread 'cause you can't beat excellent customer service if you know what I mean. Thanks again for replies. Have a good one. Bob ....

Bob, JimBinMI and I disagree on which is the best tractor brand (they're both darned good ones, of course), but you've got the right idea. A good dealer is probably more important than the brand. ....

I went to my local Kubota Dealer and spoke with the Salesman whom I know. I Told him I was looking for a B21 which is a landscape/ small construction grade unit. I wanted this for home use with a loader and backhoe. He insisted that all I needed was a 7500. Although I had my doubts, I trusted his judgement. Since I picked it up in may I have put 75 plus hard hours on it. I dug a ditch for a new well 110' long x 4 1/2' deep in nasty New England soil. I dug out rocks and lifted them out with the backhoe that would not fit in the bucket, no BS! Not a few but dozens. I have the hydro model and in low range 4wd the unit is like a small dozer.
A friend of mine jacked houses and dug for foundations while the houses were up on cribing. He beat the snot out of his machines and never had any transmision or motor problems. He now has a 1700 which is the 7500 in a seventeen hp unit.
I'm sure by now you get the drift. I did look at NH, and Deer. Bottom line is they all make good units, I found the Kubota to be the best value and have no regrets.

Bob, Thanks for the reply and the insight about your new 7500. Took delivery on the new Gravely 72" '0' turn mower yesterday, WOW what a machine! 25hp Kohler Command motor of course dual disc brakes, hydraulic lift deck, weight adjustable high back seat with arm rests, drink holder, ect.ect. Mows @ 10.5 miles per hour! Only takes me about 1.75 hours to mow my 5 finished acres! I think I'm going to be real happy with this machine! The new 7500 is suppose to be here this week, just not as excited about it yet cause me and my old girl (1210 ford) went out yesterday and roto-tilled a strip of land 700 feet long 50 inches wide for a row of pine trees. I know I'm going to miss the way she purrs and WORKS. I've been trying to find a friend that needs a compact but everyone I know says their wife won't let them buy mine. Usually, I don't do business with friends but my 1210 is in such good shape I'de sell it to a friend in a blink, hate to see it go to the dealer and have someone that might no deserve it buy it. I'm just glad that my wife says to me "buy what ever you think you need" then stands by with a pen, know what I mean? I'm a real lucky fellow in that respect. I'll probably be more excited when the Kubota actually rolls off the truck in my driveway. Thanks for the response. Bob ....
